Japan trip, day 1 - landing and ramen
This is a test of just wholesale lifting my posts from other platforms and seeing if they convert easily to BearBlog. This post is from early November.
Day 1
I'll just update when I have a moment here and there. Not too much happened today since it was almost entirely all flying, but we did get ramen immediately after checking into our hotel at 1045pm - one of those things that is pretty impossible where I live.

Pretty basic stuff but so delicious after a long flight. This was a hole-in-the-wall style joint that still had a constant stream of customers at 11pm. They had the food to us literally within a minute of ordering - we did order off the 'most popular' menu though, which means they already have a factory-like system set up to make everything.
If you've not ordered food in Japan before, in the more touristy areas especially they often work on a ticket machine system - you order and pay at the ticket machine, and when you're seated you give the stubs to the chef (or an attendant) and they'll make it there and then. Very handy, and keeps thoroughfare going.
I've been pleasantly happy with the fact I can read a decent chunk of random things. Not necessarily useful things, but random things at least. (My wife is a lot better at useful things it seems, especially in conversation)
Ok, tired now. Sleepytime.
