More camera notes to myself
New notes 7/8/2026 Been doing a bit of night shooting at farewell drinks etc, need to jot down a few things:
- EP7 with pancake is pretty good. The 20mm Lumix AF is just too slow, but the 14mm worked out, thank god. Now shooting in 4:3, might swap to that for everything. 20mm colours are probably better but at pub nights it's best not to have a slow AF.
- Best to shoot shutter priority between 1/125 - 1/200, most of my good shots were from there. That's if you want tack sharp of course, fine to play around at 1/60 or even 1/8 etc for light trail stuff etc.
- AF+Exposure on half-press is good for pub night I think which is mostly just pick up, point and shoot. Just have to remember to get focus on subjects with half-press, then recompose. (And to change the setting afterwards)
- Lots of interesting lights but there's no point shooting into the light unless doing silhouette stuff. Best to try and reposition self so light is on the subjects, at least if I'm not going to bring a flash (and I'm not).
- WB Shadow was ok
- Even 5000 ISO isn't too bad if not pixel peeping
